Marriott International's 14th Annual Road to Awareness Cycle Challenge to Raise Funds for the Turkish Education Foundation

Istanbul, Turkey: October 2022 – In a continuous effort to support children in need across the Middle East and Africa region, Marriott International has revealed it will host the 14th edition of its Road to Awareness Cycle Challenge in Turkey this year. The cycle challenge is the anchor event of the company’s annual associate fundraising campaign, Road to Awareness, that has been making a valuable difference to the lives of children across the region since 2008.  This year’s cycle challenge will see a team of 17 Marriott International employees’ cycle over a scenic route of around 400km across three days to support the Turkish Education Foundation. 

Taking place between the 28th and the 30th of October, the cycle challenge will cover a total of 392km, starting from Bodrum along the Marmaris Coast, covering a total distance of 123km on the first day. On the second day, the team will ride from Marmaris into the mountains of the Aegean and follow the iconic tour of “Queen of the Aegean Sea”, covering 161km. On the last day, the group will cycle from Akyaka back to Bodrum over a distance of 108km. 

Each rider participating in the cycle challenge will aim to raise a minimum of EUR 1,000 for Turkey-based charity, the Turkish Education Foundation.   The Turkish Education Foundation is an educational philanthropic NGO that has been committed to providing education, scholarships, and resources to young people in need for more than 50 years.

This year’s Road to Awareness cycle event will be supported by Moxy Hotels and Marriott’s long-established partner, ECOLAB.

Every year, through Road to Awareness, teams across the Middle East and Africa organize fundraising events to support the vital work of charities and organizations, such as medical, rehabilitative, educational, and therapeutic, to improve the lives of children and young people. Along with this year’s cycle event, Marriott properties across the region have already committed to various fundraising activities for Road to Awareness which will contribute towards the campaign’s overall goal to raise a total of USD 1 million for local charities across the region.

The Road to Awareness campaign falls under Marriott International’s Sustainability and Social Impact Platform, Serve 360: “Doing Good in Every Direction”, which guides how the company makes a positive and sustainable impact wherever it does business.
