KRAKOW, NOVEMBER 2022 –Tribute Portfolio, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 30 extraordinary hotel brands, today announces the opening of Garamond, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. Located in a historic tenement house at St. Mark's Street in Krakow, at the very center of the city, within Krakow's Planty park and just 500 meters from the Main Market Square. Joining Tribute Portfolio’s collection of independent, characterful hotels, this newly transformed 54 room hotel captivates the building’s rich history as a former newspaper editorial office.

The corner tenement house in which the building is located was built in the years 1938-1943. Its founder was Count Adam Potocki, an admirer of car rallies and a collector of works of art. A year later, the building was bought by Michalina and Marian Dąbrowski. Dąbrowski was a press magnate, founder and owner of the largest press concern in the history of the Second Polish Republic – ilustrowany Kurier Codzienny and a high-circulation daily of the same title, a legendary figure of Krakow of that period. The vision of the hotel refers to the figure of the first two owners of the tenement house, as well as  the interwar period. The hotel name– Garamond – is inspired by a term for the font used in the Illustrated Daily Courier, which was printed in in this tenement house.

During their stay at the hotel, guests travel back in time: history is referred to both by the interior design and menu at the Kuryer restaurant, and even details such as the clothing of the staff and the music oozing in the background and many other details. This is a real treat for lovers of culture, art and atmosphere of that period.

The hotel offers 53 guestrooms, as well as one unique apartment with a balcony. The interiors were designed by fobia design studio. The color palette is dominated by navy blue, copper and ivory, and the quality of the finish and attention to detail emphasizes the unusual character of the place.

The operator of the Garamond Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotels is the company Investment Portfolio Apartments and Hotels dealing with comprehensive services for hotels and apartments at every stage of their implementation. In Krakow, it already manages one hotel from the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio – AC Hotel by Marriott Krakow, and in the next few months it also plans to open the Renaissance Hotel on the Granary Island in Gdańsk.
